Finish Options

Semi-Gloss

The finish of your floor is a personal preference.  Some people just like to see a shiny floor when they walk into their home.

A higher gloss finish will bring out the colour of your floor and make the room feel more vibrant. When you are choosing a finish for a high traffic area, you should be aware, a shinier finish does tend to highlight marks more than a low-sheen.  Therefore, in high-traffic areas like hallways and staircases, choose your finish wisely.

Low Sheen

A low sheen allows the natural beauty of your floors to shine.  The sheen, rather than the gloss, is better at hiding the eventual subtle bumps and bruises your floor may endure over time.

A beautiful wood like the Black Walnut has a natural, deep, rich colour throughout.  This wood is not quite as hard as other species, and so a low sheen finish will protect the look of this floor and create longevity in its appearance.

Finish is important, so explore the forest and be sure you know the hardness of your wood, and understand what kind is finish works best with your colour, wood preference and lifestyle.
