A: DO NOT wet mop or use steam cleaners on your wood floor. This may leave puddles of water that can leak down between the boards and cause the finish to lift.
Remember water is the biggest enemy of hardwood floors, or any wood product. Your floors can warp, shift and lose their luster if you allow them to get wet. The best way to avoid these problems is to wipe up spills with a dry cloth.
Avoid oil soaps. They can build up creating a dull film on your floor. Instead, neutral pH cleaners made specifically for wood floors are recommended.
